“I believe in everything not yet said.”
– Rainer Maria Rilke
from The Book of Hours
Hello dear ones,
Oh it’s been so long, I hardly know how to begin. The stories I’ve been living though–oh, they are good ones. Some to tell, some to tuck away into the secret sheaves of story in my mind.
* * *
I can’t believe it: that my book will be in book stores in a matter of days, and already it’s in Amazon.
* * *
The truth is: I don’t really have my stuff together at all about this whole book launch thing. It’s a wild adventure of living into the moment, and to be honest, there are many days (most, actually) where it feels like I’m hurtling towards the unknown without guardrails.
The truth is also that I wish I had more time, and I’m just now, finally beginning to reclaim some for this work that I love so very dearly.
And the truth is that in every free moment, instead of writing, I’ve been painting postcards to send out to all my backers, along with printing the most GORGEOUS postcards–of original illustrations from A Field Guide To Now. And they are really so lovely!
It’s terribly fun to see them as actual postcards–that you can hold in your hand and scribble notes on from the moment and then send off to your friends and loved ones. I can’t wait to share/show them to you!
I’m going to be giving away a couple of packs of postcards this Friday–so stay tuned for details.

In the meantime, tell me things.
Tell me: what has yet to be said in your life?
Tell me: what are you looking forward to with the arrival of this new season?

I just received your book in the mail! So very proud of you. xx
YAY! So happy it found it’s way to you Genevieve. Thanks for your kind words…
Just ordered a copy of your new book from the local bookstore in town. I’m very excited to read it! I hope that you will be visiting central VT at some point along with your book.
I haven’t been following your blog very long and this is my first comment. However, I’m glad to have found you on the internet!
What needs to be said in my life is still evolving as the sun just recently set on one chapter and rose on a new one. Sitting with trepidation and excitement as the next season reveals itself in all its glory and splendor.
Which is exactly what I look forward to both metaphorically and literally as Autumn begins peeking its way into Summer and the shift begins. Cooler nights, pops of reds and yellows emerging on the leaves that a month ago were almost too green to contain themselves. The smell of wood stoves in the late September evening air. The cusp of change itself.
YAY! I’m so glad. (Esp. about the indie bookstore part.)
I just picked it up too, in just a day. I hope you do a reading/signing here in Montpelier! When I ordered it, they put a note in the computer that you’re local. I expect based on our conversation when ordering, they are going to keep a copy in the store as well. Please come to Montp? xo
I’d love to! I’ll see what I can make happen!
YAY! Thanks! Will be looking forward to it! Bear Pond Books is the Indie bookstore on Main Street, just FYI. They do author readings/signings. Will be keeping an eye out when you’re in town or somewhere close by. So excited for you all around!
I was looking forward to getting your book, and finally it came yesterday. So am diving in and totally loving it. Just wanted to send a note to tell you how much your writing inspires.
Thanks Kim! Very exciting.
I love fall. It is the re-birth of the school year just as everything around us is aging. It is that perfectly golden light that slants down and makes things glow. It is new school supplies (I am a geek). It is soccer and choir and dance and hockey and no time in-between. It is back to work, and back to school and back to structure and routine. It is warm days and cool nights. It is a cool breeze kissing short-sleeved arms. It is blue moons and my husband’s birthday. I love it.
I am so excited to see the post cards. I know you are busy, and I know I am busy. It is so great to take a break here with you. xoxo
Hi Christina,
I am in the process of reading your book now and I love it. The layout is wonderful and your words are beautiful. The postcards are lovely…I especially like the one with the hand holding the egg. Your placement of words on the painting was perfect!
Will you be selling any of the postcards that you had printed? I would be interested if you do.
Thank you and have a great time launching your book,
Angela Vular
Christina,
I have just finished reading your book for the first time (I know that I will read it many times). It is so beautiful. Thank you for putting all those beautiful words, ideas and images on the pages. The messages are exactly what I need right now.
I have ordered a second copy for a friend who I know needs it and will love it.
It has been a privilege to follow you on this journey to publication.
Love and thanks,

Oh Lyndel, how I love to hear this! And to know my book is being read all the way in Australia!
